Community Revival Notes: 11/11/22
Such a sweet service last night.
It generally doesn’t bother me when only a few people show up for worship as I know it is not about numbers, but I’m human and I can’t help but worry for the sake of the singers and preachers who I feel deserve to have more people there to hear and support them. Those worries were quickly put to rest. As the singing began it seemed we few became one. It doesn’t matter if there are 10 or 100 once everybody gets in one mind and one accord.
We had the pleasure of having Scarlett Wool with us, and if you’ve never had the chance to hear these guys I would highly recommend you go out of your way to do so. The group is made up of four siblings who play their own instruments and have a beautiful, family harmony. They blend traditional and contemporary styles as well as anyone, and sing a mix of hymns and contemporary songs.
Bro. Casey Waits read the story of Phillip and the Ethiopian eunuch from the book of Acts, and preached that “Jesus Came for the One”. He stressed that while God does care for and work through the body of Christ as a whole, He also cares for and seeks after the individual.
Casey brought out how Phillip was led away from a great revival in Samaria to go and help one man, as well as other examples like how Jesus went through Samaria for the woman at the well and how Jesus stopped in the country of the Gadarenes to heal one man before being forced to leave.
Casey mentioned how God then used these “ones” to help others and made many other great points through his message, even tying back into Landon’s message from the previous night. I couldn’t help but be thankful that God had sought me out personally many years ago, and another man in the congregations’ testimony at the end of the service echoed the same sentiment.
I’m looking forward to the meeting today. We will be serving a Thanksgiving meal to the community from 1-3 in front of the church, and service will start at 4pm with Boody Spencer and his daughters singing, and Bro. Chase Robinson preaching.
Please plan to join us.
