Why I Love Beautiful Star of Bethlehem

I have a sentimental reason as to why I love this song.  It was told to me that Bro. Norman King led this song a lot at Stoner Chapel Baptist Church whether it was Christmas or not; that he loved this song. 

This was my grandfather that helped start Stoner Church.  I never met him as he died at age 44, even before all of his children were raised. But  I have a deep respect for this man and the work which he did for the Lord and the Love he had for Stoner Church.  To the point that when he was dying and our church had no cemetery then, he requested that his body be moved to Stoner Cemetery when they got one.  His request was honored years later.  

I guess that is what attracted me to this song but as time has gone on and I have examined the song it has become more than sentimental to me. 

The song tells the beautiful story of the wisemen from the east following the star to Jesus.  The Star “led” them to Jesus.  And that beautiful star through the lives of His believers gives out a lovely ray and has led many to His saving grace.  And I am thankful to be one of those!   And my soul sings out these words in the chorus:

Oh, give us Thy light to light the way into the land of perfect day; Beautiful Star of Bethlehem, shine on!  Shine on!  (And on and on and on and on!!! Amen). 

May we always let the Light He put in us shine out,  helping others find the way to Jesus!!!
